Torfs, what you may not know

Posted on 20.04.2015
In HR circles and often even beyond, it is common knowledge: Torfs traditionally ends on the first spot in the "Best Workplaces" research in Belgium. After all, for six years in a row, the company – led by CEO Wouter Torfs - always conquered the first place. Only in 2013 they finished second. I suppose the researchers of the Vlerick Business School, the ‘Great Place to Work Institute Belgium' and Jobat can by now dream the high scores Torfs traditionally obtains.

Wouter Torfs is not afraid to let his voice be heard, even as an entrepreneur. Many want to know how he managed such a unique performance. In the campus newspaper of the University of Leuven he put it like this: "I'm really proud of our first place. It helps me in my attempt to set a modest example for other companies in Flanders – as a family business. I want to create a workplace where people are allowed to have fun and get the opportunity to develop their talents.".

As a result of all the investments in their staff, labour costs in Torfs are higher than the market average. But the CEO sees this as an investment. However, ensuring every employee is motivated and rewarded in a truly personal way is not obvious or easy. We at Arteel, we help them in doing so. Christie Munghen, Marketing & Sales at Torfs, puts it likes this "Arteel helps us to reinforce a positive culture in which employees give the best of themselves."
